This is the perfect pick me up for any rainy day, afternoon, energy slump. Or (for those of you this way inclined) a post workout protein hit. They are also the ultimate food defence against those pesky bugs that hang around this time of year as they are packed full of antioxidants and other good stuff..You can read all the benefits of Matcha right here.
This recipe was inspired by the good folks over at The Food Market, who were kind enough to send me some of the delicious ingredients featured. They are an online store for natural and organic food, they sell products from a number of independent merchants. They don’t only sell grocery type items, they also have an amazing Christmas shop that has some pretty awesome hampers. These hampers will feature in my Christmas Gift Guide, which will be released this week so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Melt 100g of White Chocolate using Bain Marie (ensure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t sit in the water).
Add 1 level tsp of Matcha green tea
Add 1 level tsp Vanilla matcha latte
Mix together until smooth.
Add 100g of chopped dates and 100g of chopped walnuts (or hazelnuts, or whichever chopped nut you like).
Stir until fully coated with the chocolate mix.
Add one tbsp of honey, mix well. Roll the mixture into bite sized balls.
Dust with matcha powder and chill until firm.
(you can swap the White chocolate for Dark if you prefer something a little less sweet)
Cooking time: 10minutes.
